QUEEN MARGARET HOSPITAL

Last week I was handed a Lib Dem Election Paper. On the front was an Article about QMH with photos of Willie Rennie & Jim Tolson. The text stated that "we" were working closely with Hospital Campaigners. From a Local Health Concern viewpoint I think that some clarification is required for the benefit of the Dunfermline Electorate.

After February`s Election on behalf of LHC I contacted the elected MP Willie Rennie. Although outside his remit he agreed to contact NHS Fife with proposals for better use of QMH after the downgrading in 2011. This was done and I have received copies of correspondence. At no time was Candidate Jim Tolson involved in these discussions. My Meetings with Mr Tolson have been confined to speaking to him after a Meeting re hospital transport (with little success) and a conversation (about Town Centre) in the Lib Dem Office whilst waiting to see Mr Rennie.

Over the last few months with an Election pending LHC have become quite convinced that Lib Dem Health Policy merely follows that of their coalition partners (the Elected Health Boards Bill proved that point). We have also noted the support or otherwise of all Political Activists for the Hospital Campaign over the last 5 years. I must say that the support or sympathy from Jim Tolson was poor in the extreme.

On that basis Dunfermline Voters should be aware that as far as LHC are concerned whilst appreciative of Mr Rennie`s intervention have little confidence in Scottish Lib Dem Health Policy and feel that Mr Tolson`s belated concern smacks of Political opportunism.

Yours faithfully

Endorsement of Len Woods.(not part of the above letter)

AFTER CAMPAIGNING TO SAVE SERVICES AT QUEEN MARGARET HOSPITAL SINCE 2002 WE ARE NOW REACHING A CRITICAL STAGE WHICH WILL PRESENT OPPORTUNITIES AND DANGERS. IT IS VITAL THAT WE ARE REPRESENTED BY AN MSP WHO HAS THE DETERMINATION TO FIGHT FOR THE BEST FOR THE HOSPITAL. HAVING MET THE
MAJOR CANDIDATES I CAN SAY THAT LEN WOODS STANDS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE THE REST IN HIS ATTITUDE TO QUEEN MARGARET AND ITS FUTURE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH HIM AS AN MSP.
